Anteneh Roba Discusses Healthy Vegan Diets on the Helen Show

Dr. Anteneh Roba appeared as a guest on the Helen Show, an international program that seeks to celebrate and inspire Ethiopians, Ethiopian-Americans, and more broadly, all Africans. The Helen Show regularly appears on EBS, an Ethiopian television station that airs in the U.S, Africa, and Europe, reaching a wide international viewership.

The Tuesday, September 30, episode paired Dr Roba's expertise in nutrition with the healthy cooking talents of Chef Neb. In his interview Dr Roba spoke about the projects that IFA has been working on. In particular, he emphasized the organizations efforts to encourage healthy eating through veganism. He described the benefits of a vegan diet and discussed his work to promote a healthy, plant-based diet through two wellness clinics he has recently opened, one in the U.S. and one in Ethiopia.

This episode appears in Amharic in two parts, Part 1 and Part 2

IFA Awarded Grant to Establish School Bakery

After awaiting with anticipation the final decision of the U.S. Embassy Ambassador's Special Self-Help Program (SSH), we are happy to announce that IFA has been awarded $12, 918 by the program. One of 94 applications submitted to the program, our proposal was approved by the SSH committee as one of the best they have received this year.

The award will go directly to the establishment of an income-generating bakery that will sustain our School Health and Nutrition Program in the Agazian school province and feed hundreds of schoolchildren. IFA's School Health and Nutrition Program is one that the organization has intensively been working on, and fits well the SSH Program's mission of supporting vulnerable groups in the immediate area. IFA will apply the funds toward building, equipping, and staffing a bakery that will feed children at the local school and generate enough income to permanently fund IFA's provision of school lunches to children who would otherwise attend school hungry and malnourished. We are eager to start up the bakery, and create a self-sustaining solution to the hunger of these young children.

US Embassy Representatives Visit School Benefitting from IFA Program

Accompanied by IFA co-founder Seble Nebiyeloul, representatives from the US Embassy in Ethiopia recently visited one of the primary schools benefitting from our School Health and Nutrition Program. Here are some pictures of their visit:
