IFA President Anteneh Roba
Gives Presentation at World Vegan Summit

On Saturday, March 21, IFA President Anteneh Roba gave a presentation at the annual World Vegan Summit. Held from Friday, March 20 until Sunday, March 22, in Los Angeles, the summit featured a host of scholars, nutritionists, activists, and others who spoke from their various areas of expertise about the many and varied benefits of veganism. Dr Roba spoke during the "Soul Food-for-Thought" Dinner Show, a special event that took place Saturday night, on "How the African-American Diet Affects the African Environment." He centered this presentation on the trip he took to the Elmina Castle in 2009, and showed a series of images of the slave dungeons that once confined human beings taken from their homes and sold off to foreign lands. Dr Roba also spoke of the consequences of animal agriculture on the environment in Africa, explaining that greenhouse emissions from animals, overgrazing, deforestation, and land degradation have produced greater water shortages. This, in turn, places great stress upon African countries, not only producing negative environmental effects but also leading to scare resources and even warfare.

Conference Co-Hosted by A Well-Fed World
Will Highlight IFA Projects

As part of the large event known as VegFest UK, A Well-Fed World will hold its first Global Food Sustainability Conference on Sunday, March 29, in Brighton, England. The conference seeks to provide individuals and policymakers with a set of solutions and ideas to tackle the challenge of ensuring sustainable food sources across the world. A U.S.-based organization that works to alleviate the suffering of people and animals across the globe, A Well-Fed World has proven to be a great partner to IFA, helping to launch and sustain IFA's school lunch program. One of the three segments of the conference focuses entirely on the work that IFA and Well Fed World have jointly accomplished in Ethiopia, and how to best move forward in combating the suffering of people and animals.
